New Clothes Supplication — Tubli wa Yukhlifu Allahu Ta'ala

Transliteration

Tubli wa yukhlifu Allahu ta'ala.

Translation

May you wear it out, and may Allah (Exalted is He) replace it (with another). This is a supplication for the person to be granted a long life and for Allah to provide them with more.

Context

When the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ saw a companion wearing new clothes, he taught him this supplication. It is a beautiful way to congratulate someone on new attire while asking Allah to bless them with its longevity and continued provision.

Benefit

This dua expresses hope for the wearer's long life and Allah's continuous blessings, turning a simple act of wearing new clothes into an opportunity for spiritual aspiration and well-wishing.

There is no god but Allah alone, with no partner. To Him belongs sovereignty and praise, and He is over all things competent. Glory be to Allah, and praise be to Allah, and there is no god but Allah, and Allah is the greatest. And there is no might nor power except with Allah, the Most High, the Most Great. My Lord, forgive me.
