Transliteration

Allahu Akbar (Allah is the Most Great) with each pebble he threw at the three pillars. Then he went forward, stood facing the Qiblah and raised his hands and called upon Allah. That was after (stoning) the first and second pillar. As for the third, he stoned it and called out Allahu Akbar with every pebble he threw but when he was finished he left without standing at it (for supplications).

Translation

When stoning the three pillars at Mina, the Prophet ﷺ would say 'Allahu Akbar' (Allah is the Most Great) with each pebble thrown. After stoning the first and second pillars, he would move forward, face the Qiblah, raise his hands, and make supplication. For the third pillar, he would say 'Allahu Akbar' with each pebble but then depart without making a lengthy supplication there.

Context

This describes the practice of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ during the Hajj pilgrimage when stoning the Jamarat (pillars) in Mina. It details the specific supplications and actions taken after stoning the first two pillars, and the different approach after stoning the third and final pillar.

Benefit

Following the Sunnah during Hajj rituals brings immense spiritual reward and closeness to Allah. This practice emphasizes remembrance of Allah during a key act of worship.

Dua for Protection Before Sleep

O Allah, I seek refuge in Your might, which never wanes, that You lead me astray. You are the Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is within them. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or revealed in Your Book, or taught to any of Your creation, or kept to Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen which You possess, that You make the Quran the springtime of my heart, the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness, and the reliever of my worries.

O Allah, guide me within them (my prayers) and make me firm and direct me. Remind me of Your guidance and Your directedness, and magnify Your blessings upon me. Indeed, I ask You of Your bounty, for none can possess Your bounty except You.
