Returning Greetings Upon the Prophet ﷺ
Source: Sunan Abi Dawud 2041
وَقَالَصلىاللهعليهوسلم:((مَامِنْأَحَدٍيُسَلِّمُعَلَيَّإِلاَّرَدَّاللَّهُعَلَيَّرُوحِيَحَتَّىأَرُدَّعَلَيْهِالسَّلاَمَ)).

Transliteration
Wa qala ﷺ: 'Ma min ahadin yusallu 'alayya illa raddallahu 'alayya ruhi hatta arudda 'alayhi as-salam.'
Translation
The Prophet ﷺ said: 'No one sends greetings of peace upon me except that Allah restores my soul to me, so that I may return his greetings.'
Context
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ informed us of a special connection he has with those who send blessings upon him. When we send salutations, Allah the Almighty returns his spirit to him so he can return the salutation.
Benefit
Sending prayers upon the Prophet ﷺ is a way to honor him and receive his returned greeting, strengthening our spiritual connection to him.
When to Recite
Anytime, especially after the Adhan and during Tashahhud in prayer.
