Dua for Entering the Mosque

Source: Sunan Abu Dawud 464

(يَبْدَأُبِرِجْلِهِالْيُمْنَى)،وَيَقُولُ:((أَعُوذُبِاللَّهِالعَظِيمِ،وَبِوَجْهِهِالْكَرِيمِ،وَسُلْطَانِهِالْقَدِيمِ،مِنَالشَّيْطَانِالرَّجِيمِ))[بِسْمِاللَّهِ،وَالصَّلَاةُ][وَالسَّلَامُعَلَىرَسُولِاللَّهِ]((اللَّهُمَّافْتَحْلِيأَبْوَابَرَحْمَتِكَ)).

Transliteration

Bismillahi was-salatu was-salamu 'ala Rasulillah. Allahumma iftah li abwaba rahmatik. A'udhu billahi al-'Adheem wa bi wajhihil-kareem wa sulṭanihil-qadeem minash-shaytanir-rajeem.

Translation

In the name of Allah, and prayers and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah. O Allah, open for me the doors of Your mercy. I seek refuge with Allah, the Supreme, and with His Noble Face, and His eternal authority from the accursed devil.

Context

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this supplication to be recited upon entering the mosque. It is recommended to begin with the right foot, invoking Allah's protection and seeking His boundless mercy.

Benefit

This dua seeks Allah's refuge from evil influences and asks for the immense blessings of entering His house of worship, opening the way for sincere devotion and spiritual growth.

Dua for Protection — Bismillahi La Yadhurru

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الَّذِي لَا يَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهِ شَيْءٌ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِي السَّمَاءِ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِعِزَّتِكَ الَّتِي لاَ تَرْتَدُّ، أَنْ تُضِلَّنِي، أَنْتَ الْأَرْضُ وَالسَّمَوَاتُ وَمَنْ فِيهِنَّ، أَسْأَلُكَ بِكُلِّ اسْمٍ هُوَ لَكَ سَمَّيْتَ بِهِ نَفْسَكَ، أَوْ أَنْزَلْتَهُ فِي كِتَابِكَ، أَوْ عَلَّمْتَهُ أَحَدًا مِنْ خَلْقِكَ، أَوْ اسْتَأْثَرْتَ بِهِ فِي عِلْمِ الْغَيْبِ عِنْدَكَ، أَنْ تَجْعَلَ الْقُرْآنَ رَبِيعَ قَلْبِي، وَنُورَ صَدْرِي، وَجِلَاءَ حُزْنِي، وَذَهَابَ هَمِّي.

O Allah, I seek refuge in Your might, which never wanes, that You lead me astray. You are the Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is within them. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or revealed in Your Book, or taught to any of Your creation, or kept to Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen which You possess, that You make the Quran the springtime of my heart, the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness, and the reliever of my worries.

Dua Before Sleep — Seeking Refuge in Allah's Noble Face

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِوَجْهِكَ الْكَرِيمِ، وَبِكَلِمَاتِكَ التَّامَّاتِ الَّتِي لَا يُجَاوِزُهُنَّ بِرٌّ وَلَا فَاجِرٌ، أَنْ تُقَلِّبَ عَلَيَّ اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ، وَأَنْ تُصِيبَنِي وَحْدَةٌ، أَوْ خَوْفٌ مِنْ عَدُوٍّ.

O Allah, I seek refuge with Your Noble Face, and with Your Perfect Words, which no righteous person or wicked person exceeds, from turning over the night and the day upon me, and from being struck by loneliness or fear of an enemy.
