Dua for Seeing Oneself in the Mirror

اَلْحَمْدُللهِ،اَللّٰهُمَّكَمَاأَحْسَنْتَخَلْقِيفَأَحْسِنْخُلُقِي

Transliteration

Alhamdulillahi, Allahumma kama ahsanta khalqi fa ahsin khuluqi

Translation

All praise is for Allah. O Allah, just as You have made my form beautiful, so make my character beautiful.

Context

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this dua to be recited when looking at oneself in a mirror. It is a beautiful way to begin by thanking Allah for His creation and asking Him to perfect our inner selves.

Benefit

This supplication combines gratitude for Allah's physical blessings with a sincere request for inner beauty and good character, reflecting a holistic approach to self-improvement.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ فِعْلَ الْخَيْرَاتِ، وَتَرْكَ الْمُنْكَرَاتِ، وَحُبَّ الْمَسَاكِينِ، وَأَنْ تَغْفِرَ لِي وَتَرْحَمَنِي، وَإِذَا أَرَدْتَ فِتْنَةَ قَوْمٍ فَتَوَفَّنِي غَيْرَ مَفْتُونٍ، وَأَسْأَلُكَ حُبَّكَ، وَحُبَّ مَنْ يُحِبُّكَ، وَحُبَّ عَمَلٍ يُقَرِّبُ إِلَى حُبِّكَ

O Allah, I ask You to enable me to do good deeds, to abandon evil deeds, and to love the poor. I ask You to forgive me and have mercy on me. If You intend to try a people with tribulation, take me to Yourself without my being tried. I ask You for Your love, the love of those who love You, and the love of deeds which bring me closer to Your love.

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱسْتَعِينُوا۟ بِٱلصَّبْرِ وَٱلصَّلَوٰةِ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ مَعَ ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ

O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.
