Dua for Protection When Going to Sleep

بِاسْمِكَرَبِّوَضَعْتُجَنْبِي،وَبِكَأَرْفَعُهُ،إِنْأَمْسَكْتَنَفْسِيفَارْحَمْهَا،وَإِنْأَرْسَلْتَهَافَاحْفَظْهَابِمَاتَحْفَظُبِهِعِبَادَكَالصَّالِحِينَ

Transliteration
Bismika Rabbi wada'tu janbi, wa bika arfa'uh. In amsakta nafsi farhamha, wa in arsalta-ha fahfadh-ha bima tahfadh bihi 'ibadakas-salihin.
Translation
In Your name, my Lord, I lie down and in Your name I rise. If You should take my soul, then have mercy upon it. And if You should return my soul, then protect it with what You protect Your righteous servants.
Context
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this supplication to his wife Fatimah bint Muhammad (may Allah be pleased with her) to say when going to sleep. It is a comprehensive plea for Allah's care over one's life, both in sleep and in waking.
Benefit
This dua seeks Allah's mercy and protection during sleep, acknowledging that life and death are in His hands. It is a profound statement of reliance and trust in the Creator.
