Translation
In Your name, O Allah, I die and I live.
Context
This profound supplication, recited before retiring for the night, encapsulates a Muslim's complete submission to Allah's dominion over life and death. By invoking Allah's name, the believer acknowledges that sleep is a minor death, a temporary cessation of worldly consciousness, from which one awakens only by His will. It serves as a powerful reminder of divine sovereignty and human dependence, as documented in Sahih al-Bukhari.
Benefit
Reciting this dua instills a deep sense of tawhid (Oneness of Allah) and reliance, fostering tranquility as the believer entrusts their soul to the Creator's care throughout the night. It reinforces awareness of Allah's continuous control over existence.
When to Recite
This dua is recited just before sleeping.
