((اللَّهُمَّصَلِّعَلَىمُحَمَّدٍ،وَعَلَىآلِمُحَمَّدٍ،كَمَاصَلَّيتَعَلَىإِبْرَاهِيمَ،وَعَلَىآلِإِبْرَاهِيمَ،إِنَّكَحَمِيدٌمَجِيدٌ،اللَّهُمَّبَارِكْعَلَىمُحَمَّدٍوَعَلَىآلِمُحَمَّدٍ،كَمَابَارَكْتَعَلَىإِبْرَاهِيمَوَعَلَىآلِإِبْرَاهِيمَ،إِنَّكَحَمِيدٌمَجِيدٌ)).

Transliteration

Allahumma salli 'ala Muhammad, wa 'ala aali Muhammad, kama sallayta 'ala Ibraheem, wa 'ala aali Ibraheem, innaka Hameedun Majeed. Allahumma barik 'ala Muhammad, wa 'ala aali Muhammad, kama barakta 'ala Ibraheem, wa 'ala aali Ibraheem, innaka Hameedun Majeed.

Translation

O Allah, send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, just as You sent prayers upon Ibraheem and the family of Ibraheem. Verily, You are Praiseworthy, Majestic. O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, just as You sent blessings upon Ibraheem and the family of Ibraheem. Verily, You are Praiseworthy, Majestic.

Context

This is the supplication the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught his companions to recite after the Tashahhud in prayer. It is a comprehensive request for Allah to exalt and bless the Prophet ﷺ and his household, following the pattern of blessings sent upon Prophet Ibraheem (peace be upon him) and his family.

O Allah, I seek refuge in Your might, which never wanes, that You lead me astray. You are the Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is within them. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or revealed in Your Book, or taught to any of Your creation, or kept to Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen which You possess, that You make the Quran the springtime of my heart, the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness, and the reliever of my worries.

اللَّهُمَّ اهْدِنِي فِيهِمْ، وَسَدِّدْنِي، وَاذْكُرْ هُدَاكَ، وَسَدَادَكَ، وَعَظِّمْ نِعْمَتَكَ عَلَيَّ، إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ، فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَمْلِكُ فَضْلَكَ أَحَدٌ غَيْرُكَ.

O Allah, guide me within them (my prayers) and make me firm and direct me. Remind me of Your guidance and Your directedness, and magnify Your blessings upon me. Indeed, I ask You of Your bounty, for none can possess Your bounty except You.
