When Praised — O Allah, Do Not Hold Me Accountable

((اللَّهُمَّلاَتُؤَاخِذْنِيبِمَايَقُولُونَ،وَاغْفِرْلِيمَالاَيَعْلَمُونَ،[وَاجْعَلْنِيخَيْراًمِمَّايَظُّنُّونَ])).

Transliteration
Allahumma la tu'akhidhni bima yaqulun, waghfir li ma la ya'lamun, [waj'alni khairan mimma yadhunnun].
Translation
O Allah, do not hold me accountable for what they say. Forgive me for what they do not know, and make me better than they imagine.
Context
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this supplication to be recited when one is praised by others. It is a humble acknowledgment that only Allah knows our true state and a plea for His mercy and correction.
Benefit
This dua helps guard against arrogance and self-admiration that can arise from praise, reminding the believer to seek Allah's forgiveness and to strive for inner goodness that surpasses outward perception.
