Dua for Forgiveness After Tashahhud

((اللَّهُمَّاغْفِرْلِيمَاقَدَّمْتُ،وَمَاأَخَّرْتُ،وَمَاأَسْرَرْتُ،وَمَاأَعْلَنْتُ،وَمَاأَسْرَفْتُ،وَمَاأَنْتَأَعْلَمُبِهِمِنِّي.أَنْتَالْمُقَدِّمُ،وَأَنْتَالْمُؤَخِّرُلاَإِلَهَإِلاَّأَنْتَ)).

Transliteration

Allahumma ighfir li ma qaddamtu, wa ma akhkhartu, wa ma asrartu, wa ma a'lantu, wa ma asraftu, wa ma anta a'lamu bihi minni. Antal-Muqaddimu, wal-Mu'akhkhiru, la ilaha illa ant.

Translation

O Allah, forgive me for what I have sent forth, and what I have delayed, what I have done in secret, and what I have done publicly. Forgive me for my excesses and for whatever You know better than I. You are the One Who brings forth and the One Who delays; there is no god but You.

Context

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this comprehensive supplication for forgiveness to be recited after the final Tashahhud and before the tasleem (ending salutation) of the prayer. It encompasses asking for pardon for all types of sins, both past and future, hidden and public.

Benefit

This dua seeks complete forgiveness, acknowledging Allah's knowledge of all our deeds and His absolute power to advance or defer matters, offering immense spiritual relief and purification.

When to Recite

After the final Tashahhud and before the Tasleem in any prayer.

There is no god but Allah alone, with no partner. To Him belongs sovereignty and praise, and He is over all things competent. Glory be to Allah, and praise be to Allah, and there is no god but Allah, and Allah is the greatest. And there is no might nor power except with Allah, the Most High, the Most Great. My Lord, forgive me.

There is no god but Allah, the Forbearing, the Generous. Glory be to Allah, Lord of the Mighty Throne. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds. O Allah, I ask You for the things that earn Your mercy, and the resolve to seek Your forgiveness, and safety from every sin, and security from every wrongdoing. Do not leave me with a sin except that You forgive it, nor any worry except that You relieve it, nor any need that is pleasing to You except that You fulfill it, O Most Merciful of the merciful.
