Translation
O Allah, I submit my soul to You, entrust my affair to You, turn my face to You, and rely on You with hope and fear of You. There is no refuge or safety from You except with You. I believe in Your Book which You revealed and in Your Prophet whom You sent.
Context
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this comprehensive supplication to his companion Al-Bara' ibn Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) to recite before sleeping. It encapsulates complete reliance on Allah, acknowledging His sovereignty and truthfulness in His revelations and messengers.
Benefit
Reciting this dua before sleep signifies total submission and trust in Allah, ensuring that if one's soul is taken during the night, they die upon the natural disposition (fitrah) of Islam.
When to Recite
Before going to sleep, once.
