Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-khubthi wal-khaba'ith
Translation
O Allah, I take refuge in You from male and female evil spirits.
Context
Upon entering the lavatory, a place traditionally associated with impurity and the potential presence of jinn, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught his companions to seek divine refuge. This supplication serves as a shield against the male and female evil spirits, or 'khubuth' and 'khaba'ith,' that are believed to inhabit such spaces. It underscores the Islamic emphasis on seeking Allah's protection even in mundane and private moments.
Benefit
Reciting this dua provides spiritual safeguarding, shielding the individual from the harm and whispers of male and female jinn and devils who frequent impure places. It reinforces one's reliance on Allah for protection in all circumstances.
When to Recite
This dua should be recited immediately before entering the bathroom.
