Translation
O Allah, Knower of the unseen and the seen, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Lord of all things and their Possessor, I bear witness that there is no god but You. I seek refuge in You from the evil of my soul, and from the evil of the devil and his snares, and from bringing evil upon myself or casting it upon any Muslim.
Context
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this comprehensive supplication to his companion Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) to recite before sleeping. It encompasses acknowledging Allah's absolute knowledge and dominion, and seeking His protection from inner evil and external influences.
Benefit
This dua offers profound protection by seeking refuge in Allah from one's own shortcomings, the whispers of Shaytan, and the potential harm one might cause to themselves or others.
When to Recite
Upon lying down to sleep at night.
