Transliteration
Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar. Lā ilāha illā Allāh, waḥdahu lā sharīka lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-ḥamdu, wa huwa ‘alā kulli shay’in Qadīr. Āyibūna, tā’ibūna, ‘ābidūna, li-Rabbanā ḥāmidūn. Ṣadaqa Allāh wa‘dah, wa naṣara ‘abdah, wa hazamal-aḥzāba waḥdah.
Translation
Allah is the Greatest. None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without partner. To Him belongs all sovereignty and praise, and He is over all things omnipotent. We return, repentant, worshipping, and praising our Lord. Allah fulfilled His promise, aided His servant, and single-handedly defeated the allied forces.
Context
Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) reported that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned from a battle or from pilgrimage, he would say 'Allahu Akbar' three times at every elevation. He would then say this supplication, acknowledging Allah's might and victory.
Benefit
This dua expresses gratitude for a safe return and acknowledges Allah's sole power in granting victory and overcoming challenges, reinforcing reliance on Him.
When to Recite
