Reciting Surah As-Sajdah and Al-Mulk Before Sleep

((يَقْرَأُ﴿الم﴾تَنْزِيلَالسَّجْدَةِ،وَتَبَارَكَالَّذيبِيَدِهِالْمُلْكُ)).

Transliteration

Yaqra'u 'Alif-Lam-Meem Tanzeel As-Sajdah, wa Tabarakal-ladhee biyadihil-mulk.

Translation

One should recite Surah As-Sajdah (Chapter 32) and Surah Al-Mulk (Chapter 67).

Context

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would not go to sleep until he recited these two Surahs. This practice was taught to his companions as a means of protection and a reminder of Allah's power and justice.

Benefit

Reciting these Surahs before sleep is a way to seek Allah's protection throughout the night and to reflect on His creation and dominion, earning great reward.
