Dua for When Thunder Sounds

Source: Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 723

((سُبْحَانَالَّذِييُسَبِّحُالرَّعْدُبِحَمْدِهِوَالْمَلاَئِكةُمِنْخِيفَتِهِ)).

Transliteration

Subhanal-ladhi yusabbihur-ra'du bihamdihi wal-mala'ikatu min khifatih.

Translation

How perfect Allah is! The thunder declares His perfection with His praise, and the angels do so out of fear of Him.

Context

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this supplication upon hearing thunder. It acknowledges Allah's absolute perfection and power, as reflected in the awe-inspiring phenomena of nature.

Benefit

Reciting this dua helps one remember Allah's might and glory, fostering a sense of awe and humility in the face of His creation.

O Allah, You are my Lord, there is no god but You. You created me and I am Your servant. I keep Your covenant and my pledge to You as best I can. I take refuge in You from the evil I have done. I acknowledge before You Your favor upon me, and I acknowledge my sin — so forgive me, for none forgives sins but You.
