Our Lord, Do Not Punish Us If We Forget or Err

رَبَّنَالَاتُؤَاخِذْنَاإِننَّسِينَاأَوْأَخْطَأْنَاۚوَرَبَّنَاوَلَاتَحْمِلْعَلَيْنَاإِصْرًاكَمَاحَمَلْتَهُعَلَىالَّذِينَمِنقَبْلِنَاۚوَرَبَّنَاوَلَاتُحَمِّلْنَامَالَاطَاقَةَلَنَابِهِۖوَاعْفُعَنَّاوَاغْفِرْلَنَاوَارْحَمْنَاۚأَنتَمَوْلَانَافَانصُرْنَاعَلَىالْقَوْمِالْكَافِرِينَ

Transliteration
Rabbana la tu'akhidhna in naseena aw akhta'na. Rabbana wa la tahmil 'alayna isran kama hamaltahu 'alal-ladheena min qablina. Rabbana wa la tuhammilna ma la taqata lana bihi, wa'fu 'anna, waghfir lana, warhamna. Anta Mawlana fansurna 'alal-qawmil-kafirin.
Translation
Our Lord, do not punish us if we forget or fall into error. Our Lord, and lay not on us a burden such as You laid on those before us. Our Lord, and impose not on us that which we have not the strength to bear. Pardon us; and forgive us, and have mercy on us. You are our Protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people.
Context
This is the final verse of Surah Al-Baqarah, revealed to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. It encapsulates a profound plea from the believers to Allah, asking for His mercy and understanding in their human fallibility.
Benefit
This dua is a powerful affirmation of our reliance on Allah and an admission of our weaknesses. It seeks protection from His wrath for unintentional mistakes and asks for the strength to overcome trials.
