When Something Disliked Happens

((قَدَرُاللَّهُوَمَاشَاءَفَعَلَ)).

Transliteration

Qadarullahi wa ma shaa' fa'al.

Translation

Allah has decreed, and what He wills, He does. This is a powerful affirmation of divine will and acceptance when facing difficulties.

Context

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this supplication to be recited when something disliked occurs or when an attempt to achieve something fails. It is a reminder that all events, good or bad, are by Allah's decree.

O Allah, You are my Lord, there is no god but You. You created me and I am Your servant. I keep Your covenant and my pledge to You as best I can. I take refuge in You from the evil I have done. I acknowledge before You Your favor upon me, and I acknowledge my sin — so forgive me, for none forgives sins but You.
