Dua of Prophet Nuh ﷺ for Forgiveness

رَبِّإِنِّيأَعُوذُبِكَأَنْأَسْأَلَكَمَالَيْسَلِيبِهِعِلْمٌۗوَإِلَّاتَغْفِرْلِيوَتَرْحَمْنِيأَكُنمِّنَالْخَاسِرِينَ

Transliteration
Rabbī innī a'ūdhu bika an as'alaka mā laysa lī bihi 'ilmun. Wa illā taghfir lī wa tarhamnī, akun minal-khāsirīn.
Translation
My Lord, indeed I seek refuge in You, lest I ask of You that of which I have no knowledge. And unless You forgive me and have mercy upon me, I will be among the losers.
Context
This is the supplication Prophet Nuh (peace be upon him) made to Allah when his son was drowning, and he pleaded with Allah to save him. He then realized his error in pleading for one whom Allah had decreed to drown, and he turned to Allah in sincere repentance.
Benefit
This dua teaches us to acknowledge our limitations and seek Allah's forgiveness for any unintentional mistakes or requests made out of ignorance. It highlights the importance of relying on Allah's mercy to avoid loss and regret.
When to Recite
Recited by Prophet Nuh (peace be upon him) in a moment of distress and realization, applicable during times of seeking forgiveness and acknowledging shortcomings.
