Dua for a Bad Dream — Praying if Desired

((ويَقُومُيُصَلِّيإِنْأَرَادَذَلِكَ)).

Transliteration

wa yaqūmu yuṣallī in arāda dhālika

Translation

If you have a bad dream, you can get up and pray.

Context

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught that if one experiences a bad dream, they should get up and pray if they wish. This action is a way to seek refuge and strength from Allah.

Benefit

Engaging in prayer after a disturbing dream can bring a sense of peace and help redirect one's focus towards Allah's protection and mercy.

O Allah, You are my Lord, there is no god but You. You created me and I am Your servant. I keep Your covenant and my pledge to You as best I can. I take refuge in You from the evil I have done. I acknowledge before You Your favor upon me, and I acknowledge my sin — so forgive me, for none forgives sins but You.
