After Rain — Matarna Bifadlillah wa Rahmatullahi

Transliteration

Matarna bifadlillahi wa rahmatihi.

Translation

We have been given rain by the grace and mercy of Allah.

Context

This is a beautiful expression of gratitude the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught his companions to say after rainfall. It acknowledges that the rain, a source of life and sustenance, is purely from Allah's bounty and compassion.

Reciting this affirms your belief in Allah's sole power to provide and fosters a deep sense of thankfulness for His blessings, recognizing His mercy in every drop.

O Allah, You are my Lord, there is no god but You. You created me and I am Your servant. I keep Your covenant and my pledge to You as best I can. I take refuge in You from the evil I have done. I acknowledge before You Your favor upon me, and I acknowledge my sin — so forgive me, for none forgives sins but You.

Glory is to Him who has subjected this to us, and we ourselves were not capable. Indeed, to our Lord we will return.
