Leaving Home — Allahumma Inni A'udhu Bika

(اللَّهُمَّإِنِّيأَعُوذُبِكَأَنْأَضِلَّ،أَوْأُضَلَّ،أَوْأَزِلَّ،أَوْأُزَلَّ،أَوْأَظْلِمَ،أَوْأُظْلَمَ،أَوْأَجْهَلَ،أَوْيُجْهَلَعَلَيَّ).

Transliteration

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika an adilla aw udalla, aw azilla aw uzalla, aw azlima aw uzlama, aw ajhala aw yujhala 'alayya.

Translation

O Allah, I seek refuge in You lest I stray or be led astray, slip or cause others to slip, oppress or be oppressed, or act foolishly or be treated foolishly.

Context

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this supplication to be recited when leaving one's home. It's a comprehensive plea for protection against misguidance, mistakes, and injustice, both from oneself and from others.

Benefit

Reciting this dua invokes Allah's protection over you, shielding you from making wrong choices or being influenced by negative forces as you navigate the outside world.

O Allah, You are my Lord, there is no god but You. You created me and I am Your servant. I keep Your covenant and my pledge to You as best I can. I take refuge in You from the evil I have done. I acknowledge before You Your favor upon me, and I acknowledge my sin — so forgive me, for none forgives sins but You.
