Transliteration

Al-isti'ādhatu billāhi minhu.

Translation

Seeking refuge with Allah from him (the devil).

Context

When the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ encountered evil suggestions or the promptings of Shaytan, he would seek refuge in Allah. This is a general principle of seeking Allah's protection against all forms of evil influence.

Reciting this affirms your reliance on Allah for protection against the whispers and temptations of Shaytan, safeguarding your heart and mind.

اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، خَلَقْتَنِي وَأَنَا عَبْدُكَ، وَأَنَا عَلَى عَهْدِكَ وَوَعْدِكَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ، أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا صَنَعْتُ، أَبُوءُ لَكَ بِنِعْمَتِكَ عَلَيَّ، وَأَبُوءُ بِذَنْبِي، فَاغْفِرْ لِي، فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ

O Allah, You are my Lord, there is no god but You. You created me and I am Your servant. I keep Your covenant and my pledge to You as best I can. I take refuge in You from the evil I have done. I acknowledge before You Your favor upon me, and I acknowledge my sin — so forgive me, for none forgives sins but You.
