Dua for Marriage or New Acquisition

إِذَاتَزَوَّجَأَحَدُكُمُامْرَأَةً،أَوْإِذَااشْتَرَىخَادِماًفَلْيَقُلْ:((اللَّهُمَّإِنِّيأَسْأَلُكَخَيْرَهَا،وَخَيْرَمَاجَبَلْتَهَاعَلَيْهِ،وَأَعُوذُبِكَمِنْشَرِّهَا،وَشَرِّمَاجَبَلْتَهَاعَلَيْهِ،وَإِذَااشْتَرَىبَعِيراًفَلْيَأْخُذْبِذِرْوَةِسَنَامِهِوَلْيَقُلْمِثْلَذَلِكَ)).

Transliteration
Idha tazawwaja ahadukum imra’atan, aw idha-shtara khadiman, falyuqul: (Allahumma inni as’aluka khayraha, wa khayra ma jabaltaha ‘alayhi, wa a’udhu bika min sharriha, wa sharri ma jabaltaha ‘alayhi). Wa idha-shtara ba’iiran, falyakhudh bi-dhirwati sanamihi wa layuqul mithla dhalik.
Translation
When one of you marries a woman, or buys a servant, he should say: 'O Allah, I ask You for the good of her and the good of what You have decreed for her. And I seek refuge in You from the evil of her and the evil of what You have decreed for her.' When buying a camel, he should hold its hump and say the same.
Context
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this supplication for a man marrying a woman or acquiring a servant. It is also to be recited when purchasing a camel, holding its hump while reciting.
Benefit
This dua seeks Allah's blessing for the new union or acquisition, asking for its inherent goodness and protection from any potential harm.
