Dua for Forgiveness When Breaking Fast

((اللَّهُمَّإِنِّيأَسْأَلُكَبِرَحْمَتِكَالَّتِيوَسِعَتْكُلَّشَيْءٍأَنْتَغْفِرَلِي)).

Transliteration

Allahumma inni as'aluka birahmatikallati wasi'at kulla shay'in an taghfir li.

Translation

O Allah, I ask You by Your mercy which encompasses all things, that You forgive me.

Context

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this supplication to be recited when breaking the fast. It is a moment of vulnerability and gratitude, making it an opportune time to seek Allah's forgiveness.

Benefit

This dua seeks Allah's boundless mercy for forgiveness, acknowledging its vastness which covers all creation. It is a powerful plea for pardon at a time when supplications are believed to be readily accepted.

اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، خَلَقْتَنِي وَأَنَا عَبْدُكَ، وَأَنَا عَلَى عَهْدِكَ وَوَعْدِكَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ، أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا صَنَعْتُ، أَبُوءُ لَكَ بِنِعْمَتِكَ عَلَيَّ، وَأَبُوءُ بِذَنْبِي، فَاغْفِرْ لِي، فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ

O Allah, You are my Lord, there is no god but You. You created me and I am Your servant. I keep Your covenant and my pledge to You as best I can. I take refuge in You from the evil I have done. I acknowledge before You Your favor upon me, and I acknowledge my sin — so forgive me, for none forgives sins but You.

Glory is to Him who has subjected this to us, and we ourselves were not capable. Indeed, to our Lord we will return.
