Dua for the Bereaved — Inna Lillahi Ma Akhadh

((إِنَّللَّهِمَاأَخَذَ،وَلَهُمَاأَعْطَى،وَكُلُّشَيْءٍعِنْدَهُبِأَجَلٍمُسَمَّى...فَلْتَصْبِرْوَلْتَحْتَسِبْ)).وَإِنْقَالَ:((أَعْظَمَاللَّهُأَجْرَكَ،وَأَحْسَنَعَزَاءَكَ،وَغَفَرَلِمَيِّتِكَ))فَحَسَنٌ.

Transliteration
Inna lillahi ma akhadh, wa lahu ma a'ta, wa kullu shay'in 'indahu bi ajalin musamma... faltasbir waltahtasib. A'dhamallahu ajrak, wa ahsana 'aza'ak, wa ghafara limayyitika.
Translation
To Allah belongs all that He has taken, and to Him belongs all that He has given. Everything has an appointed time with Him. So be patient and hope for Allah's reward. May Allah magnify your reward, grant you the best consolation, and forgive your deceased.
Context
When the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ visited Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) after her son had passed away, he offered her this profound reminder. He instructed her to be patient and to seek reward from Allah, acknowledging that all belongs to Allah.
Benefit
This dua offers solace and perspective during times of loss, reminding the bereaved that Allah's decree is just and that patience brings immense reward.
