اللَّهُمَّبِاسْمِكَأَحْيَاوَأَمُوتُ

Transliteration

Allahumma bismika ahya wa amoot

Translation

O Allah, by Your Name I live and by Your Name I die.

Context

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would say this upon waking and before sleeping. It is a profound acknowledgment of Allah's sovereignty over life and death, setting the tone for the day or night.

Benefit

This dua affirms complete reliance on Allah, seeking His protection and acknowledging His ultimate control over all affairs, including life and death.

Morning Remembrance — Asbahna wa Asbahal-Mulku Lillah

أَصْبَحْنَا وَأَصْبَحَ الْمُلْكُ لِلَّهِ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

We have reached the morning and at this very time the whole kingdom belongs to Allah. Praise is for Allah. None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without partner; to Him belongs the kingdom and all praise, and He is over all things omnipotent.

Daily Life

Our Lord, Do Not Punish Us If We Forget or Err

رَبَّنَا لَا تُؤَاخِذْنَا إِن نَّسِينَا أَوْ أَخْطَأْنَا ۚ وَرَبَّنَا وَلَا تَحْمِلْ عَلَيْنَا إِصْرًا كَمَا حَمَلْتَهُ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِنَا ۚ وَرَبَّنَا وَلَا تُحَمِّلْنَا مَا لَا طَاقَةَ لَنَا بِهِ ۖ وَاعْفُ عَنَّا وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَارْحَمْنَا ۚ أَنتَ مَوْلَانَا فَانصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ

Our Lord, do not punish us if we forget or fall into error. Our Lord, and lay not on us a burden such as You laid on those before us. Our Lord, and impose not on us that which we have not the strength to bear. Pardon us; and forgive us, and have mercy on us. You are our Protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people.
